Be advised, this fountain doesn’t have a solar collecting panel, just a direct sunlight panel that powers it…that means no fountain on cloudy days or nighttime. If the sun comes and goes, you get a gurgle. I just gave up on the panel and plugged it in. It’s wonderfully large, easy to maintain and everyone loves it. Very soothing at the end of a hard day.

AS other reviewers have stated, the solar panel is picky. It HAS to have direct sunlight or no dice. There is no ac adapter so it is a quiet fountain most of the time. That is saying a lot considering I have it on a Western-facing patio in the blazing sun in California. It still only runs a couple hours a day unless I feel like monkeying with the solar panel several times a day.

I love this fountain, but it has 3 major drawbacks:

    1) The top section, or ewer, is made of a different material than the rest of the fountain, so it doesn’t match. Its made of smoother, darker clay.

    2) This does NOT come with an AC power pack, so can only be functional when the sun is shining.

    3) The chord is about 8 feet long, so it’s too short to have the fountain at a nice location and the solar panel hidden in a sunny area, like your roof.

Otherwise, it makes a soothing amount of noise, is pretty and is fairly stable. Very easy to put together. Unfortunately, I don’t know how to get an AC power adapter for it (weird connector), so it’s useless a lot of the time.

Generally, I like this product. It arrived very promptly and was easy to assemble. It did NOT however, come equipped with the AC adapter which, based upon the other reviews, I had decided on this particular item. I contacted the company that shipped the fountain and they have indicated that the missing adapter will be sent to me. We’ll see. Very disappointing, however.

I used this fountain on the deck behind the house. It really looked nice with some plant pots around it and sounded very soothing. The only problem was with the solar panel which doesn’t use batteries and only works in the bright sun. Not much of a problem here in Florida, but the shade from a white bird of paradise tree was enough to stop the pump for a short time each day, and I use my deck at night, too. The AC adapter could have been used but I don’t have an electrical outlet close to where the fountain is. The shallow bowl means having to constantly fill it with water because of evaporation. Still, I was satisfied with it and it lasted over two years. The metal stand finally rusted away and fell apart and the pump corroded, which could probably be replaced for a few bucks. I still use the bowls for planters.
